Prisse d’Avennes.

Folio volumes 1 through 3, published in 1877, containing 200 lithographs of ornamental detailing and views of remains seen throughout Cairo by Prisse D’Avennes, a French artist and engineer. This collection was the most important work of the 19th century entirely dedicated to Arab art. The volumes were owned and signed by Cornelia Cruger, the last inhabitant of Cruger’s Island.  Cruger donated this set to the Hoffman Library of then St. Stephen’s College in 1920,  along with her family library.
